Japan (Singapore-Osaka-Nagoya) - Day 1 - 16 May 2012

Pardon me for the lack of update, because I just came back from a trip to Japan! Actually this trip was supposed to be 5 days only, since it was a semi-business trip, but my sister and I decided to extend it for a week more, so we could explore Japan by ourselves. So, we explored Japan on 16-27 May 2012!

The first 5 days were a group tour, so we followed all the tour's schedule. We departed from Jakarta by Singapore Airlines at 7 pm. We had a transit at Singapore, and at 1.45 am we departed from Singapore to Osaka. Our first stop should be Nagoya, but since that day there was no flight from Singapore to Osaka, we had to stop at Osaka first, then going to Nagoya by bus.

We arrived at Kansai International Airport at around 9am, and directly went to Nagoya by bus. In the middle, we stopped for a toilet break, and my sister and I bought a nice croquette. Since we spoke some Japanese, the auntie asked us where we were from, and when we answered Indonesia, she told us that she had gone to Bali. Wow, Bali is just so popular!

Yummy croquette

At around 2 pm, we arrived at a restaurant to have lunch. The restaurant served us Kishime - Nagoya-styled noodle with tempura. The waitress told us that we supposed to dip the tempura into the broth. The Kishime was indeed delicious, and the tempura was very crunchy.

After lunch, we wandered around Sakae Downtown Area. Before that, we had a chance to ask one of the waiter about an address of a shop. He explained quite throroughly and we were so touched and happy because we understood his Japanese, and he understood ours as well! So our Japanese was not that bad hahaha :D

We stopped by Tokyu Hands and Muji - both are very famous megastores which sell a lot variation of things. We were supposed to meet again under Nagoya TV Tower, and while we arrived there, there were a lot of Junior High School students on study tour. At around  4 pm, they brought us to check-in at the hotel. Since there were 12 groups for the tour, and we were assigned in Group 1 - practically the main group - we got a different hotel from the others. Our hotel's name is ANA Crowne Plaza. I will review this hotel in my other post.

My dinner
We met back at the lobby at around 6 pm, after having a quick shower. Then we departed to the dinner place, which was about 30 minutes ride by bus. When we arrived there, we were surprised because the dinner place was not a restaurant, instead it looked like an employees' canteen. We were served a set of noodles with a lot of side dishes. However, the food was not really nice.

At 8 pm, we arrived back in the hotel, and we decided to wander around the area for a little bit. The hotel is located just beside the subway station. The area was quiet but complete. There were mini market called 'Family Mart', Starbucks, karaoke and a few small restaurants. Even at around 8 pm, the area was steel crowded with people who were singing, playing guitars or those who just taking a walk.  We soon got tired and decided to go back to the hotel.

To be continued...
